Week Eight ~ Nearing the End

I am finding that as we get closer to the end of the term and the end of the school year that I am taking less and less photos on a day-to-day basis.

Learning IS still taking place though...

Here are a few snaps from this week!

We always know summer is here (or nearly) when we start spotting Cicada shells!

We enjoyed an impromptu trip to the park with another homeschooling family!

These are our read aloud selections for the week... we focused on planets, the sun, and the solar system.

Week Seven ~ Zoo Trip

As part of our Africa Unit Study we took a trip to the zoo.
We have purchased another year long membership to the zoo so the boys and I are very excited as we will take numerous trips to the zoo in the weeks and months to come.

We didn't take a lot of photos through the week (other than on Friday when we went on our excursion) but I have a few photos to show some of our other activities...

Munchkin drew this picture, then glued the magazine page of penguins on, and added googly eyes as an extra special touch.

Daddy has worked hard to get our fish tank up and running again and even stuck with our Africa theme by buying African Cichlids

We focused our reading on the rhinoceros and also started watching this wonderful documentary film about Africa...

 Monday night puzzle progress...

We took the train to the library on Tuesday...

Tuesday night puzzle progress... in keeping with our theme it is Elephants in Namibia

The rest of the photos are from our zoo trip on Friday...
It was a hot day with temperatures reaching 40C/100+F in areas so we were thankful for the shade and the options to enjoy water at the zoo.

These pictures focus on the African animals we were able to visit...

A lovely young lady offered to take a picture of all of us on the ferry...

The ferry docks at the bottom of the zoo so we always take the Sky Safari to the top and then walk back down visiting exhibits as we go...

 Lemurs...

NOT a good picture but this is the 3 week old baby gorilla and his/her mother.

Another visit to the Lemurs who were enjoying ice cubes...

The only rhino we saw... as the rhinos exhibit is under construction...

The Bongo keeping cool in the shade...

Week Six ~ Puzzles and Catching Up

This week was a week of catching up and also finishing our puzzle project that Monster and I have been working on since June or July.

We started off our week reading books about African animals as part of our Africa unit study.
Not all of the animals in this book were African but it still had good information.

I also decided to photograph our progress as we finished the puzzle...
